Bobbie Bishop has called Austin home since pre-school. A proud Austinite, she has served the rapidly growing and changing community as a banker since 2001 when she began her career in the financial industry, and has leveraged her expertise as a valued team member of The Bank of Austin since 2017. She joined the team before the bank opened, where she has since applied her skillset to specialize in Treasury Management and Commercial Credit Cards. Bobbie reflects on what she enjoys most about partnering with business owners to help them achieve their goals, and she shares why her involvement with Austin’s livestock community, her passion outside of the office, makes her a better banker.    

What is the most rewarding part of serving the Austin community?   

The most rewarding thing about working in Austin is that I have lived here the majority of my life, and have had the opportunity to help many businesses grow over the years.  

What is your favorite part about living in Austin?   

The weather and the longtime Austinites. 

Why do you love working for The Bank of Austin? 

I love being able to build relationships with my clients, through spending quality time with them and getting to know them. I love interacting with people in general, and I feel lucky to be able to do that every day in my role with the bank. 

In one word, how would you describe the community of Austin?   

Changing. 

What is your hobby or expertise outside of work and how do you use it to be a stronger leader? 

Outside of work, I am heavily involved in our livestock community. My husband and I are volunteers with the Travis County Livestock Show and Rodeo Austin. We run a family show pig farm and work with kids involved in FFA and 4H programs in the County and State Livestock Shows. I am also a Vice Chair for Competitive Events at Rodeo Austin; I assist with sub-committee volunteers for events in the show barn. It takes a large number of volunteers to run the annual show and we are always looking for volunteers. This experience has made me a stronger leader, and I’ve applied that as I strive each day to become the best banking partner I can be for the business owners we serve.
