Austin native Bobbie Bishop, Senior Vice President, Treasury Solutions Relationship Manager, lives the motto, “We’re in the business of helping businesses.” Bobbie has spent over 20 years in the banking industry, specializing in treasury management, and was on the founding team at The Bank of Austin when it opened in 2017. She shares about her passion for powering Austin businesses, her community involvement outside of her work at the bank, and the professional values that drive her.
What is your experience and career background?
I began my professional career with the armored car industry in sales. After 18 years in that industry, I moved into banking. I have spent 21 years in treasury management, municipalities and commercial credit cards. In May of 2017, I joined Jon Eckert and the management team to start The Bank of Austin. This was a fantastic opportunity to get back to the basics of relationship banking with clients.
What is your specialty, and how do you serve your clients at The Bank of Austin?I assist all commercial clients with determining the services to best support their business needs. As those needs change, we have conversations to adjust their services.
What are your activities and hobbies outside of work?My husband and I mentor and volunteer with Rodeo Austin and Travis County Youth Show. We have a family show pig farm which caters to FFA and 4H projects.
Which community organizations are you involved with?I am an active member of Austin Association of Financial Professionals. I’m also a social event volunteer for TEXPO 2022 and a vice chair for competitive events with Rodeo Austin. Rodeo Austin provides scholarships to the youth of Texas.
What inspires you about working in Austin?I am from Austin so this is home for me. When we say we are a hometown bank, I feel comfortable visiting with our clients about the Austin market. I can share the changes that have taken place over the years in Austin and I build strong banking relationships with clients who are looking for that familiar local knowledge.
